Soothing Bots is a mixed-reality music game for Meta Quest: a choir of friendly robot heads sings songs you wake, mute and arrange with your hands. It is made for players aged 10 and up: teens and adults, and children aged 10 to 12 (section 7). This policy explains what the game does with information about you. The short version: the game itself collects nothing about you. It has no accounts, no ads and no servers of ours, and it sends nothing about you to us or to anyone else (the software it is built with may send diagnostics to Meta or Unity: section 6). Your hand, eye and camera data are used on your headset only and are never stored or sent anywhere.
1. Information stored on your headset only
The game saves your songs (projects and your edits), the robots' places in your room, settings, your diamond balance, the daily-diamond timer and a record of the purchases already granted. This data stays on your headset; we never receive it. Uninstalling the game deletes it.
Robot places in your room. To keep the robots where you put them, the game uses the headset's spatial anchors. The anchors and their positions are stored on your headset only.
2. Hand tracking
The game reads your hand and finger positions from the headset's hand tracking: pinching, poking buttons, carrying robots, hand signs (such as a wave or thumbs up) and hand games with the robots. It uses them frame by frame on your headset and does not store or send them.
3. Eye tracking (only on devices that have it)
On a headset with eye tracking (for example Meta Quest Pro), and only if you allow it when the system asks, the game uses where you look to pick the robot or button you pinch. Gaze is used on your headset, frame by frame, only for this. It is never stored or sent, never shared, and never used for advertising, profiling or analytics. Without eye tracking (Meta Quest 3 and 3S have none), or if you decline, the game uses your head direction instead. You can turn eye tracking off at any time in your headset's settings.
4. Passthrough camera (Import by QR only)
Songs can be shared as a QR code. Import by QR uses the headset's passthrough cameras (Meta Quest 3 and 3S), and only with your permission: the game asks the first time you tap Import by QR. While you scan, camera images are processed on your headset only to read the QR code; each image is discarded immediately. Camera images are never stored, never sent over the network, never shared and never used for anything else. The camera stops as soon as you close the scanner. You can instead type a song's text code, and you can withdraw the camera permission at any time in your headset's settings.
The QR code and text code contain only the song (its settings and your edits), never information about you.
5. What the game does not do
- No account or sign-up with us. We collect no name, email, date of birth, location, contacts or payment details (the age category from Meta: section 7).
- No microphone use: the robots sing, you don't have to.
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no tracking across apps.
- No analytics, telemetry or crash reports of ours: the game itself sends nothing to us or to third parties. (Meta's platform and SDK, and Unity's engine, may collect diagnostics of their own: section 6.)
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
6. Meta and in-game purchases
Meta operates the Meta Horizon Store and your headset. Meta handles your data (your Meta account, payments, device data) under its own privacy policy: https://www.meta.com/legal/privacy-policy/.
Diagnostics by Meta and Unity. The game is built with Meta's XR SDK (which includes Meta's own telemetry) and Unity. The game itself sends nothing, but Meta's platform and SDK may collect diagnostics and usage information about the app and your headset, under Meta's privacy policy above, and Unity's engine diagnostics are switched on, so basic crash and engine diagnostics may go to Unity under its privacy policy: https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy. We do not receive this data. The game uses no Unity Analytics, no Unity advertising and no other third-party analytics or advertising service.
The game uses Meta's Platform SDK for three things: to check that your copy is genuine, to sell and grant diamonds (in-game purchases), and to ask Meta for your Meta account's age category (section 7). Through it the game receives your Meta user ID for this app, your purchases in this game and that age category. Payments are handled entirely by Meta; the game never sees your payment details. The game does not request your profile, friends or any other Meta platform data.
7. Ages and children
Soothing Bots is for players aged 10 and up. On the Meta Horizon Store it is listed for Mixed Ages: teens and adults (13 and over) and children aged 10 to 12. It is not meant for children under 10, and Meta does not allow children under 10 to use Meta Quest.
Players aged 10 to 12 can't make purchases. Each time the game starts, it asks Meta for the age category of the Meta account in use (child aged 10 to 12, teen, adult, or unknown). The game uses the answer for this one thing only: when Meta says the account belongs to a child aged 10 to 12, the diamond shop and every way to buy diamonds are hidden, and the game says when the next free diamond comes instead. The free daily diamond and everything else work as for everyone. The answer is kept in the game's memory while it runs and forgotten when it closes; it is never written to the headset, never sent to us or anyone else, and never used for anything else. When Meta gives no answer (for example offline), the game treats the player as 13 or older.
The game itself collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Meta handles Meta accounts, their ages, purchases and parental supervision (for example Meta's Family Center) under its own privacy policy (section 6). A parent or guardian should set up and supervise the headset for players aged 10 to 12.
8. Retention and deletion
- Songs, settings, robot places and purchase records on your headset: kept until you uninstall the game.
- Hand, gaze and camera data, and the age category from Meta: not kept (used live, then discarded).
- We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete. For Meta-held data, see Meta's privacy policy.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information. We do not process personal information outside your headset, but contact us with any question and we will answer within 30 days.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
